CMS Updates Medicare Part D Low-Income Subsidy Standards

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued updated income and resource standards for individuals who apply for the Medicare Part D Low-Income Subsidy (LIS). Federal law requires that the income and resource limits be updated each year. The new income and resource standards will be applied to all LIS applications filed on or after Jan. 1, 2020 and are of interest to Medicare Part D providers including Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and Medicare Advantage plans. The CMS memo with tables listing the 2020 Poverty Guidelines along with a description of the methodology used to update resource limits for 2020 is available here.
