May Medicaid Renewal Mailing Delayed in NYC

The Department of Health (DOH) has notified Medicaid managed care plans and is informing consumers that due to a technical issue, the May mailing of Welfare Management System (WMS) Medicaid eligibility renewal packets in New York City has been delayed. The Department’s expectation is that consumers will receive their renewal packets in June. Individual consumers affected by the deferred mailing will have their coverage extended to ensure appropriate time to complete the recertification process.

While the notice seeks to reassure that no consumer will lose coverage based on this delay, plans have expressed concerns that prior delays have led to disenrollments and administrative difficulties. Consumer questions are being referred to the DOH Technical Assistance Center (TAC), which can be reached at MLTCTAC@health.ny.gov or via telephone at 1-866-712-7197. We expect this issue to be discussed at an upcoming DOH meeting and will share additional information that becomes available. Please note that this issue impacts New York City beneficiaries only.
