DOH Issues Medicaid Coverage Memos for Power Wheelchairs

(Dec. 1, 2025) The Department of Health (DOH) has issued two memoranda describing Medicaid coverage and billing of preventative maintenance for power wheelchairs and repairs of backup power wheelchairs. Both policies are effective as of Jan. 1, 2026 for Medicaid beneficiaries with fee-for-service coverage and March 1, 2026 for those with managed care coverage.
