The Next Phase of UAS-NY Implementation

Beginning May 1, 2013, certain programs will begin to transition to the Uniform Assessment System for New York (UAS-NY) in certain counties. The following programs/organizations that manage or conduct assessments for the programs will use the UAS-NY: Adult Day Health Care, Assisted Living Program, Care at Home I/II Waiver, Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, Long Term Home Health Care Program, Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Waiver, Personal Care Services Program and the Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver. The transition will begin in: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chemung, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates counties.

Organizations will begin to use the UAS-NY once transition activities are completed, with full implementation by Oct. 1, 2013. Organizations that are responsible for the client assessment, such as the assisted living program, must ensure that any contractors are identified and notified of this change.

DOH will conduct a webinar about these transition activities on April 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. We encourage members to participate. DOH’s website has more information about the UAS-NY, including all previously recorded webinars. DOH recommends reviewing the Jan. 29, 2013 UAS-NY Project Update webinar. Questions regarding UAS-NY implementation can be sent via email to: uasny@health.state.ny.us.
