Input Sought on Mandatory Enrollment of Medicaid RHCF Residents

As part of the state’s efforts under Medicaid Redesign to provide “Care Management for All,” DOH intends to transition the state’s permanently placed Medicaid-only nursing home residents into Medicaid managed care plans. LeadingAge New York is seeking member input on this initiative.

Approximately 6,000 non-dual eligible (i.e., Medicaid but not Medicare) permanently placed nursing home residents are scheduled to transition into managed care in October 2013. Several questions have already been raised on the reimbursement and fiscal, managed care plan network, eligibility and enrollment, and access and quality aspects of this initiative.

DOH is planning to convene a work group in the near future to discuss key policy and operational questions and make recommendations on how to resolve them by mid-year. LeadingAge NY plans to actively participate in the work group process. Please let us know if you have any specific questions, comments or concerns about this initiative.
