Register Now: LeadingAge National Workshop Series on New Service Coordinator Grants

On Dec. 13th, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced new funding for Service Coordination grants in affordable senior housing. The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) posted by HUD will fund approximately 160 Service Coordination programs across the country. The program, called Service Coordinators in Multifamily Housing, has not received new funding since 2013.

LeadingAge National was instrumental in securing funds for the much-anticipated expansion of HUD’s Service Coordination programs and will now host two workshops – scheduled for Jan. 11th and Feb. 8th – to help member providers navigate applications for the NOFO, due March 11th. Register here for the workshops, both at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Service Coordinators offer critical support for older adults with low incomes as they age in community, including by referring HUD-assisted residents to health and educational resources. LeadingAge President and CEO Katie Smith Sloan said in a statement of the new federal funding: “This is a tremendous advocacy success, and a true win for our members, their staff, and most importantly, for residents.”

LeadingAge NY will continue to work in concert with its partners at LeadingAge National to expand the reach of Service Coordination throughout the state. For more information on our ongoing advocacy efforts, please reach out to Annalyse K. Denio, Housing Policy Analyst for LeadingAge NY.
