NYC DOHMH Offering Free Fit Testing Train-the-Trainer Program for NYC Home Care Providers

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is pleased to share a free-of-charge, qualitative fit testing train-the-trainer program opportunity for NYC home care agencies. Several two-and-a-half-hour sessions in different NYC boroughs are available in January. Members are encouraged to share this training with respiratory protection leads in their agencies.

The in-person sessions will review how respiratory programs work and can be implemented or expanded at facilities. Demonstrations will show how fit testing is performed, followed by a hands-on training on the fit testing process. Twelve sessions are planned in January. More may be added if there is further interest.

Participants will receive FREE FIT TESTING KITS and extra fit testing supplies on the day of the training. Two or more staff from each interested facility are recommended to attend the training. Please note that a clinical background is not needed to be able to perform fit testing. For NYC-based networks with facilities outside of NYC, participants may be from any facility, including those outside the geographical boundaries of the NYC Health Care Coalition.
