DOH Extends Implementation of Revised Universal Billing Rate Codes for Home Care and Managed Care

The Department of Health (DOH) has extended implementation of the Revised Universal Billing Rate Codes for home and community based long term care providers and Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) plans from Jan. 1, 2018 to April 1, 2018.  LeadingAge NY and other provider groups worked together with DOH to select codes that were most widely used and then to minimize disruption when the originally announced set required revisions.   The codes set universal standards for coding of payment for home and community based long term care services claims and facilitate more flexible use of Adult Day Health Care. Implementation of the revised codes requires software modifications for plans and providers as well as contract amendments.   In addition, the law requires electronic payments of claims under contracts or agreements between long term care providers and plans, with payments to be made by electronic fund transfer. For the extension letter and code list, please click here.  Please note that the codes are the same as those distributed with the Sep. 22, 2017 letter.

Questions for DOH regarding the implementation deadline may be directed to nfrates@health.ny.gov.
