NHTD and TBI Waiver Transition Workgroup Update

LeadingAge New York previously announced that we are serving on the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waiver transition workgroup. This follows the Department of Health (DOH) extending the effective date for both the NHTD and the TBI populations to transition to mandatory Medicaid managed care to Jan. 2017. Forming the workgroup was part of an agreement to delay the transition of the two waivers. This workgroup is charged with suggesting strategies for a smooth transition into managed care.

As a follow-up to the first NHTD and TBI Waiver transition workgroup held on Aug. 24, 2015 materials are posted to the MRT #90 website. The first document is the meeting minutes and the second is a four page FAQ. Please note the high level overview of what the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires in the transition of waivers to Managed Long Term Care on page one of the meeting minutes. On page two of the minutes the formation of five subcommittees is reviewed which include services, workforce, finances, housing and outreach/marketing material. Anyone interested in joining any of the subcommittees should email waivertransition@health.ny.gov.

We will continue to keep members posted on additional information as it becomes available.
