HHA Moratoria Extension
In the July 28th Federal Register, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the extension of the statewide temporary moratoria on the enrollment of new Medicare home health agencies (HHAs) in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas. This extension also applies to HHAs in Medicaid and CHIP. The extension is effective July 29, 2017.
As LeadingAge NY previously reported, the first moratoria for HHAs started in Florida and Illinois in 2013 and then expanded to other states. CMS has stated that the moratoria are aimed at preventing and combating fraud, waste, and abuse under these programs.
