DOH Issues Guidance on Implementation of Face-to-Face Encounter Requirements

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) outlining guidance on implementing the requirements for the face-to-face (F2F) encounter with Medicaid providers for the initial authorization for home health services provided by a Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) and certain durable medical equipment (DME) ordered with these services. The effective date for physician and agency compliance with F2F for Medicaid home health cases was July 1, 2017.

The DAL is available here. Questions regarding this information should be directed to homecare@health.ny.gov with a subject line of “F2F encounters” or 518-408-1638.
