Next Meeting of State LTC Planning Group Slated for July 9th

The New York State Department of Health (DOH) and New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) have announced that the third meeting of the Long Term Care Planning Project (LTCPP) will be held on July 9, 2019 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany (Meeting Room 6) from 1 to 4 p.m. At this meeting, participants will hear from speakers on family caregiver support and then be assigned into groups to discuss how the State can further support family caregivers. Please register at https://ltcppmeeting3.eventbrite.com by July 5th to attend. Seating is limited.

The LTCPP is comprised of state, private, and not-for-profit leaders examining the long term care system and the projected needs of aging New Yorkers. LeadingAge NY and several of our members participate in this initiative, which involves a series of five meetings over the course of 2019.

The May 13th meeting of the group focused on how evidence-based programs and other innovative models are working in aging and long term care. Presentation slides and notes from this meeting, as well as from the first meeting on Feb. 4th, are posted on the LTCPP webpage.

Following the July 9th meeting, DOH and NYSOFA plan to hold two more meetings, the first focused on analyzing, expanding, and supporting the long term care workforce; and the second on financing alternatives to public programs (i.e., Medicaid).

LeadingAge NY will continue to contribute to this effort and monitor the outcomes. Members with questions about the initiative can contact DOH staff at ALTCteam@health.ny.gov.
