NYC Providers Are Reminded of Resources During Heat and Coastal Storm Planning Changes

New York City (NYC) providers are reminded of some resources and changes related to emergency preparedness activities and resources.

With the extreme heat upon us, NYC has a web page with various heat-related resources and a map of cooling centers available to the public. Members are advised to consider their emergency plans as they relate to potential disruption of power during these times of extreme heat.

Adult care facilities (ACFs) and nursing homes in NYC should also be aware that the state Department of Health (DOH) and NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM) updated coastal storm planning zones, which resulted in a few changes for facilities. NYCEM will be sending out further information and guidance for these facilities, and DOH can provide technical assistance if needed. In some cases, this may require an update to the Facility Evacuation Planning Application (FEPA).
