DOH Issues Winter Storm Season Guidance

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued guidance for adult care facilities (ACFs), nursing homes, home care agencies, hospice, hospitals, and outpatient facilities for Winter Storm Season 2019-2020. Members are encouraged to review the guidance carefully to ensure that you are prepared for potential winter weather events that could impact your daily operations. The guidance also reminds of activities to undertake during such an emergency. Providers are encouraged to undertake preparedness activities now, before the winter weather is upon us. One simple step you can take today is reviewing your organization’s entries in the Communications Directory of the Health Commerce System (HCS) to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date.

DOH’s Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP) has also published the November issue of the Aware Prepare Update, a monthly electronic newsletter with information on upcoming trainings related to preparedness. These trainings may be provided in one or more of the following formats: live webcasts, webinars, and in-person training; and archived webcasts, webinars, and on-demand eLearning. You will see Evacuation of Facilities in Disasters Systems (eFINDS) and Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) training among the many offerings.
