DOH Issues DAL Regarding Requirements and Best Practices for CHRCs

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) to ensure that providers are aware of Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) requirements and provide best practices for the processing of CHRC requests. Click here to view the DAL. LeadingAge NY is aware that adult care facility (ACF) providers continue to await payment for CHRCs conducted in past years and is in regular contact with DOH regarding this issue. DOH reports that they anticipate some of the funds to be released shortly, at which time providers will be notified via a subsequent DAL.

The DAL provides the following contact information for any questions regarding the CHRC process:

  • Preferred: "Contact CHRC" button within the CHRC application on the Health Commerce System (HCS)
  • Pre-fingerprint: Contact CHRC intake/program via telephone at 518-402-5549 or email at CHRC@health.ny.gov if you have not received an update in your Document Viewer after five business days
  • Post-fingerprint: Contact CHRC Legal at 518-408-1627 or CHRCLegal@health.ny.gov
