Healthcare Personnel Influenza Vaccination Report Open as of Feb. 5th

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) announcing that the Healthcare Personnel (HCP) Influenza Vaccination Report is open as of Feb. 5, 2018 and must be electronically submitted to DOH by May 1, 2018. New York Codes, Rules and Regulations, Title 10, Section 2.59 (10 NYCRR Section 2.59) requires any healthcare facility, residential facility, or agency licensed under Article 28 or Article 36 of the Public Health Law and any hospice established pursuant to Article 40 of the Public Health Law to document the number and percentage of personnel vaccinated against influenza for the current season. Thus, nursing home, home care, and hospice providers must submit the report. While adult care facilities (ACFs) are not required to submit this report, assisted living programs (ALPs) should bear in mind that the home care requirement would apply to their home care employees.

This year’s report covers HCP employed by or affiliated with your facility or agency from Oct. 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018. According to the DAL, your facility or agency should enter available data in February and then resubmit as often as necessary as new HCP join your facility or agency and/or submit documentation of vaccination. The DAL provides information on where to find and how to complete the report. In addition, Frequently Asked Questions and a recorded webinar on the regulations are also available. Lastly, the DAL provides several DOH contacts, should you have any questions or require assistance with the report.
