Reminder: Next Public Affairs Council Meeting Scheduled for Thurs., April 4th!

Members are reminded that LeadingAge NY will be hosting our April Public Affairs Council meeting on Thurs., April 4th at 3 p.m. During this month’s meeting, LeadingAge NY will provide an update on the ongoing NYS budget process, review the latest budget advocacy resources and activities, and discuss ways members can work together to keep the pressure on legislators via social media/press activities. With the March 31st budget deadline behind us, it is critical that our network of advocates work together to keep the pressure on policymakers for the remainder of negotiations! This month's meeting will provide members with specific things they can do to help us amplify our unified message and budget priorities.

The Public Affairs Council serves as a venue for Public Relations (PR) and Government Affairs professionals from LeadingAge NY member organizations to join together and coordinate advocacy and press efforts. The focus of the Council's work changes as we progress through the year and different phases of the state legislative cycle.

This month’s discussion will be focused on 2024 budget advocacy and ensuring that all members understand what they can be doing NOW to ensure that we effectively fight against proposed cuts and advocate for better funding of long-term care. The Public Affairs Council is a prime opportunity for members to weigh in on our materials and strategies, and we use your feedback to refine and capitalize on our work together.

If you have not already done so, you can sign up for the Public Affairs Council here! All Public Affairs Council meetings are held over Zoom. Please reach out to Sarah Daly at sdaly@leadingageny.org with any questions about the Council or PR/advocacy resources.
