LeadingAge NY Testifies Before PHHPC on Proposed Nursing Home Staffing Regulations

Last week, LeadingAge NY's Karen Lipson offered testimony at a Public Health and Health Planning Council (PHHPC) meeting that was largely focused on the Department of Health's (DOH) proposed regulations for the “70/40” direct care minimum spending measure and the minimum nurse staffing hours measure for nursing homes. Karen's testimony built upon the points made in a five-page letter that LeadingAge NY sent to the Council earlier in the week, prior to the meeting. If you missed Karen’s in-person testimony and the following discussion, a clip of her comments is available here, and an archived recording of the full meeting is here.

Following the meeting, LeadingAge NY issued a press release pointing to the PHHPC's consideration of the proposed staffing regulations, the affiliated workforce challenges, and the general lack of support from the State throughout the pandemic.

LeadingAge NY will continue to monitor and update members on the status of these proposed staffing regulations and any activity surrounding them.
