LeadingAge NY Announces #LoveThisCareerLTC Summer Social Media Contest

LeadingAge NY is excited to announce the launch of our first-ever #LoveThisCareerLTC Summer Social Media Contest! The contest will run from July 15th to Oct. 15th and offer cash prizes to our members’ staff who create content aimed at inspiring others to pursue long term care (LTC) careers.

Over the last several years, TikToks and Instagram Reels (1-3 minute videos) have become a new staple in social media, attracting the attention of millions. These videos are fun for the content creator and observer alike and can be effective in communicating a message in an easy and digestible way. In our contest, we are asking LeadingAge NY and Adult Day Health Care Council (ADHCC) member staff, across all departments and all service lines, to create their own short videos highlighting jobs in LTC and aging services and what they love about their work. Contest prizes of up to $1,000 will be awarded to the creators of the best videos. Categories for monetary prizes include Best Overall, Most Heartwarming, Most Creative/Best Use of Popular Social Media Trends, and more!

LeadingAge NY has created several resources for members to use in the rollout of the contest at your organization. Our #LoveThisCareerLTC Contest website provides a comprehensive set of contest guidelines for organization leaders and a flyer for members to use, print, and share widely with staff to encourage participation. The Contest Flyer is created in a way that makes it easy to share digitally or by printing and posting physical copies.

LeadingAge NY and ADHCC members are encouraged to use this opportunity to empower staff. Encourage them to share their passion for their work by creating their own content aimed at highlighting the fulfilling aspects of LTC careers and encouraging other caregiving-natured individuals to join them in the field. Releasing the reins and leveraging staff creativity to tell their stories with this goal in mind can be a powerful way to influence public perception. Videos can be fun and lighthearted or involve more serious/heartwarming storytelling, all with this goal in mind.

If you have any questions about this contest or otherwise, please feel free to contact Sarah Daly at sdaly@leadingageny.org. We can’t wait to see your staff’s video creations!
