2027 Advocacy Day
(Oct. 26, 2026) LeadingAge NY is already gearing up for the 2027 NYS budget and legislative session! Due to the gubernatorial election cycle, the SFY 2027-28 Executive Budget Proposal is due to be announced on or before Feb. 1, 2027. State budget discussions will take place from then until April 1st. After roughly 9 weeks of deliberations, the process will conclude with three-way negotiations (between the Governor, the State Senate and the Assembly) and passage of the State Fiscal Year 2027-28 budget.

Where: Meeting Room 7 of the Empire State Plaza Convention Center (279 Madison Ave., Albany, NY 12242).
Who: All LeadingAge NY Members, staff teams and resident advocates are invited to join us for this day of advocacy to advance LeadingAge NY budget priorities.

Why: February will be a key time to meet with state legislators and advocate for state funding actions that would help stabilize NY’s long-term care system, workforce and access to quality care.
Although the 2025 federal funding bill, H.R. 1, was enacted some time ago, its phased implementation means that New York State is expected to face increasingly significant impacts from federal funding changes to programs such as Medicaid and SNAP.
Any financial headwinds New York State might face can have a direct impact on the funding available for long-term care and aging services providers, and therefore, a direct impact on the services available for older New Yorkers. Your advocacy is critical to protect current funding and fight for the investments that aging New Yorkers deserve!
What to Expect: During our Advocacy Day, LeadingAge NY members and advocates will participate in legislative meetings alongside providers and consumers from across the state. Our policy team will prepare meeting materials and talking points, attend meetings, help answer legislator questions, facilitate follow-up, and assist with all aspects of the day. In addition, we can assist members in scheduling meetings with your state legislators, or we can help you connect with other members from your region of the state.
