NYS Rolls Out Free Community College Program

(July 29, 2025) This year’s State budget established a program to offer free community college for NYS residents age 25-55 without a current degree who are enrolled in certain high-demand fields, including nursing and allied health fields, pathways to teaching in shortage areas, technology, and cybersecurity. Starting this fall through State University of NY (SUNY) and City University of NY (CUNY) Reconnect, NYS will cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies for community college students who meet the criteria. This program may provide an avenue for the staff of some LeadingAge NY members to pursue a degree that advances their long-term care career.
