DOH hosted a webinar on Dec. 11th to share details with stakeholders on the recently submitted application to extend and renew the State's DSRIP Program waiver. DOH Waiver Request Recognizes LTC as High Priority; LTC Funding Not Specified

DOH last week submitted a request to CMS to extend and renew its 1115 Medicaid waiver. The proposal includes the creation of new VMOs to support the transition to VBP, requires VMOs to engage in specified LTC promising practices, and continues training funds for LTC workforce.

LeadingAge NY Calls for Investment of DSRIP 2.0 Funds in Long-Term Care Workforce and Innovative Models

In comments submitted to DOH on its draft application to extend and renew the DSRIP program, LeadingAge NY requested the allocation of 40 percent of DSRIP 2.0 funds to the LTPAC sector for purposes such as workforce recruitment and retention, implementation of innovative models of care, and investment in telehealth and health information technology.

DSRIP 2.0 Draft Amendment Includes Long-Term Care Elements

The draft amendment proposal released by DOH on Sept. 17th seeks a four-year extension and renewal that would invest $8 billion in DSRIP Performance, Workforce Development, Social Determinants of Health, and the Interim Access Assurance Fund and identifies long-term care as a "high-need priority area."

LeadingAge NY Urges Investment in Long-Term/Post-Acute Care for DSRIP 2

DOH staff described successes of DSRIP and themes for its renewal in presentations at a United Hospital Fund conference. In a letter to DOH, LeadingAge NY pointed to underfunding of long-term/post-acute care under the first phase of DSRIP and called for investment in long-term/post-acute care infrastructure, senior housing with services, workforce, and rural providers.
