DOH Issues Updated Infection Prevention and Control Guidance for ACFs

The Department of Health (DOH) recently issued updated infection prevention and control guidance for adult care facilities (ACFs). Overall, the guidance appears to update the language from the December 2022 guidance to reflect minor changes made over the past year, but does not appear to have substantive changes. For example, guidance around masking now points to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance instead of State-specific guidance. In addition, the guidance indicates that ACFs should use passive screening of those coming into the building (a change made earlier in 2023) and notes that active screening would be at the discretion of the ACF. In addition, links to references are updated.

This guidance replaces the December 2022 infection prevention and control guidance for ACFs.
