NYSDOT Posts Funding Opportunity for Transportation of Older Adults and Individuals with Disabilities
(Sept. 2, 2025) The NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced this week the availability of $27.2 million in funding to enhance the mobility options for older adults and persons with disabilities.
This funding, administered by NYSDOT and made available through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program (Section 5310), is intended to improve mobility for older adults and individuals with disabilities by removing barriers to traditional transportation services and by expanding community mobility options.
Funding for projects will be awarded through a competitive solicitation process and will require an applicant match. Prospective projects will be rated based on established criteria that include performance measures, project relationship to identified gaps in service, and degree of integration and coordination with local transportation planning efforts.
Please visit this webpage for assistance in identifying candidate projects, program guidance, application forms, and details on program webinars. Completed applications will be accepted electronically through Nov. 3, 2025.
To expedite the application process for this solicitation, NYSDOT is committed to working with you and your staff. For further information on this program opportunity, or if you have any questions related to the posted materials, please contact NYSDOT at 5310MobilityApplications@dot.ny.gov.
NYSDOT offers this funding opportunity every two years. Several LeadingAge NY and Adult Day Health Care Council (ADHCC) members have received funding for vehicles and other projects through this funding source. Past awards can be reviewed here.
