Make Sure Your HCS Account is Active!

All DOH-regulated providers must have active Health Commerce System (HCS) accounts. DOH has noted that many organizations have failed to keep accounts up-to-date, so we remind members to:

  • Have current HCS accounts. You should check the HCS regularly. Failing to use the account will render it inactive and inaccessible.
  • Enter into the HCS Communications Directory, twenty-four hour, seven-day a week contacts for emergency communication and alerts. Ensure that directory is up-to-date, reflecting personnel changes as they occur.
  • Have a policy defining the HCS coverage, which should be reviewed no less than annually.
  • Ensure sufficient and appropriate personnel are designated to critical roles and can ensure uninterrupted and rapid response to requests from the State/DOH.

We also recommend that you be prepared to demonstrate any of the above for DOH on survey.
