CMS Seeks Input on Advancing Interoperability and Health Information Exchange
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) seek input on potential policy and programmatic changes to accelerate electronic Health Information Exchange (HIE) across providers, including acute and long term care providers. Public comments are being solicited on a number of questions including what types of CMS and ONC policies and programs would most impact long term care providers’ exchange of health information with other treating providers and how could these programs maximize the impact on care coordination and quality improvement. LeadingAge New York is working on a response to these questions, in conjunction with LeadingAge CAST, and welcomes member comments. Written or electronic comments must be received by CMS by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22. Click here for the full notice posted in the Federal Register.
