DOH Releases Hospital to Nursing Home Surge RFP
A request for proposals (RFP) has been issued by the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP) at the Department of Health (DOH). The RFP seeks an experienced organization to develop, implement and evaluate tools that will assist nursing homes with rapid expansion of their services to assist with hospital decompression during a health-related emergency.
The successful applicant will work with Health Research Inc. (HRI) and OHEP to develop a comprehensive Surge Master Template, Nursing Home User’s Guide, Nursing Home Surge Companion Workbook and a Hospital Guidance Document for hospitals and nursing homes. These tools will assist hospitals and nursing homes to develop individual decompression and surge plans for implementation during a catastrophic event (e.g. pandemic influenza).
The RFP provides that priority will be given to applicants that demonstrate in-depth knowledge of stand-alone healthcare facilities and health systems; DOH hospital and nursing home regulations and standards; and knowledge of other healthcare organizations and responders (e.g., local health departments, emergency management offices), as well as proven familiarity with nursing home principles and hospital practices. The deadline for submission of the RFP is September 8, 2014.
