Resources for Global Handwashing Day and International Infection Prevention Week
(Oct. 14, 2025) The Department of Health (DOH) Bureau of Healthcare Associated Infections (BHAI) reminds providers, as we approach Global Handwashing Day (Oct. 15th) and International Infection Prevention Week (Oct. 19th-25th), that hand hygiene, including both handwashing and hand sanitizing, is a primary defense against the spread of infections, illnesses, and harmful germs. Infection prevention is essential and reinforces the practices that protect patients, health care workers, and the public.
