CDC COCA Call: Fungal Disease Awareness Week
(Sept. 12, 2025) Fungal Disease Awareness Week runs from Sept. 15-19, 2025, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is calling on health care professionals to raise awareness about the growing impact of fungal infections – many of which are misdiagnosed, underreported, and increasingly resistant to treatment.
The CDC’s Fungal Disease Awareness Week Social Media Toolkit offers ready-to-use graphics, outreach messages, and educational materials for both the public and health care providers. Each day of the week highlights a different fungal disease topic, encouraging clinicians to “Think Fungus” when symptoms do not improve with standard treatment.
COCA Call: Drug-Resistant Candida
Join the CDC’s next Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) Call on Thurs., Sept. 18, 2025 from 2-3 p.m. ET, focused on the rise of antifungal resistance in Candida auris and Candida parapsilosis. Experts will share testing recommendations and treatment strategies.
