DOH Issues March Medicaid Update

(May 6, 2025) The Department of Health (DOH) has just circulated the March 2025 edition of the Medicaid Update. Highlights include the selection of Performant as the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) for the NYS Medicaid program. Performant will act as the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) vendor to provide federally required activities to help reduce improper payments, identify underpayments, report suspected fraud, and implement strategies to prevent improper payments going forward. The publication also provides community spouse monthly income allowance amounts that are effective Jan. 1, 2025. The update reminds providers of nursing facility services, certain home and community-based waiver services, and services to individuals enrolled in a Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) plan that they are required to print and distribute the Information Notice listing the allowance amounts to couples with an Institutionalized Spouse at the time they begin to provide services to their patients.
