Free Oct. 1st Webinar on Providers’ Roles in FIDA

The Medicare Rights Center is providing a webinar exclusively for LeadingAge New York members on the role of providers within the Fully Integrated Dual Advantage (FIDA) program. This free session is being offered on Thurs., Oct. 1 from 3 p.m. to 4:30pm. With efforts underway to expand enrollment in FIDA, we encourage member organizations to participate.

To register for attendance, please navigate to: http://medicarerights.adobeconnect.com/FIDALeadingAge and enter as a guest. Participants can either use headphones or dial-in by calling 1-877-394-5901 and entering the code 7760730. LeadingAge NY will make a recording of the session available to members for those who are unable to participate this Thurs.

FIDA is a new managed care program in New York City (which will soon expand to Westchester and Suffolk Counties) for people who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid and need long term care services. FIDA combines individuals’ health care and prescription drug coverage under a single managed care plan. It is important for providers to be knowledgeable about FIDA so that they can help their patients/residents understand their health coverage and rights as the program takes effect. Additionally, providers have a unique role in FIDA—they may be encouraged to participate on an Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), which is composed of the patient’s providers and is tasked with creating the patient’s plan of care.

This 1.5-hour web presentation will cover:

  • FIDA background
  • FIDA eligibility and enrollment
  • FIDA coverage basics
  • Understanding the difference between Managed Long Term Care and FIDA plans
  • The function of the IDT
  • How to avoid FIDA marketing abuses
