LeadingAge Submits Public Comment on 2026 Home Health Proposed Payment Rule
(Sept. 2, 2025) LeadingAge NY and LeadingAge National submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the 2026 Proposed Payment Rule for Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs), which calls for a proposed 9% reduction in Medicare fee-for-service payments for home health in 2026 and will mean over $1.1 billion in cuts to providers, which will threaten access for older adults who rely on such care to remain in their homes. When combined with the -8.8% payment reductions the agency has implemented since 2023, the impact will be significant to all providers of home health care – but nonprofit providers will be hit the hardest.
Please see LeadingAge NY's comments here and LeadingAge National's here.
LeadingAge National is also taking this issue to Congress and asking them to oppose the rule and significant past cuts to home health agencies. We ask members to take action and complete a digital letter to Congress. See the action alert here.
Please feel free to tailor your letter with information from this resource.
