Adult Home Quality Improvement Committee Requirements Regulation Finalized

The Department of Health (DOH) has adopted a regulation for adult homes and residences for adults to require that plans for quality assurance activities also include infection control standards as well as the creation of a quality improvement committee that is to meet periodically, at least once every six months, to review findings from monitoring implementation of the facility’s quality assurance plan, evaluate the effectiveness of corrective action policies, and identify trends and improvement activities. The quality improvement committee shall include the administrator or operator of the facility, the resident council president or other resident representative, and representatives from frontline employees from each area of operation.

Members may recall that these regulation changes were proposed in November 2023, and the final regulation is unchanged from the proposal. DOH issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) regarding the changes back in March 2022, and this regulation mirrors the language in the statute. This regulation is effective as of March 13, 2024.
