Reminder: Join LeadingAge NY for Public Affairs Council Meeting This Thurs., Oct. 23rd!

(Oct. 21, 2025) Members are reminded that LeadingAge NY will be hosting our October Public Affairs Council meeting this Thurs., Oct. 23rd at 3 p.m.

In this month's Council meeting, we will talk with members about the upcoming 2026 budget and legislative cycle and the new advocacy and press approaches that LeadingAge NY plans to implement for 2026 Advocacy Days. We will seek volunteers who are interested in partnering with us directly on various efforts, review resources currently available, and update members on ongoing legislative and policy efforts. In addition, we hope to hear from members about the district events and local press stories that you are pursuing in your area of the state.

Every year, an Executive Budget Proposal is released in mid-January, marking the beginning of intense state budget discussions and related advocacy. The months of November and December will be critical to set the stage for a strong budget advocacy effort in the new year, and that work will start now, with this late-October Council meeting. We strongly encourage members to connect with us right now, at this quieter time of year, to help ensure that we have strong legislative connections and unified messaging as we prepare for next year's budget fight.

We aim for these calls to be both an opportunity for LeadingAge NY to update members and an opportunity for us to hear from you about your challenges and successes. We hope that you will be available to join us for this meaningful discussion. If you have not already done so, you can sign up for the Public Affairs Council here.

The Public Affairs Council serves as a venue for Public Relations (PR) and Government Affairs professionals from LeadingAge NY member organizations to join together and coordinate advocacy and press efforts. It offers a prime opportunity for members to weigh in on our materials and strategies, and we use your feedback to refine and capitalize on our work together. While discussions primarily focus on advocacy and press, any staff member from any LeadingAge NY member organization who is interested in advocacy is welcome to join this council.

All Public Affairs Council meetings are held over Zoom. Please reach out to Sarah Daly at sdaly@leadingageny.org with any questions about the Council or PR/advocacy resources.
