CCRC Revitalization Legislation Vetoed

Despite our best efforts,on Monday, November 25th the Governor vetoed CCRC Revitalization legislation A.8193 (Schimminger)/S.1803-A (Rivera) that had passed the legislature in June of this year.

The Governor explains in his veto message that the consolidation of oversight into the Department of Health would include an “expenditure of funds”, which has not been budgeted for. Given the significant budget gap that the state is facing, the Governor explains that this measure should be considered during upcoming budget discussions. Although we are disappointed by the Governor’s action on CCRC Revitalization, we are hopeful that our policy proposal might be adopted in the FY 2020-2021 Budget cycle.

We will undoubtedly need your voice in Albany to accomplish this goal in the new year. With this in mind, you may want to consider joining us for our 2020 Advocacy Day on February 4th at the New York State Capitol and Empire Plaza. We will be sharing additional details on our Advocacy Day in future publications and correspondence.
