Governor Signs Advanced Care Planning Legislation

Signed on July 21st, the bill establishes a statewide advanced care planning campaign to promote public awareness and education about advanced care planning tools and the benefits and availability of hospice and palliative care services.

The #LoveThisCareerLTC Summer Social Media Contest will run from July 15th to Oct. 15th and offer cash prizes to LeadingAge NY and ADHCC member staff who create video content aimed at inspiring others to pursue LTC careers. Staff across all service lines and all departments within membership are eligible to win.

2022 LeadingAge NY Legislative Bill Summary

The New York State Legislature completed its work on Sat., June 4, 2022, marking the end to another busy and productive New York State Legislative Session. LeadingAge NY tracked over 1,000 bills over the course of session. The 2022 Legislative Bill Summary reviews over 130 bills that either were passed by the Legislature or failed to advance to final passage.

Governor Hochul Convenes Extraordinary Session to Address Gun Safety

Newly passed firearms legislation makes changes to laws pertaining to the “concealed carry” of firearms and identifies sensitive locations where it is prohibited to carry a concealed weapon, including health care facilities such as nursing homes and ACFs. The implications of these changes in state law and their impact on other member types will require further analysis, which LeadingAge NY will provide over the coming weeks.
