In a memo released Sept. 26, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reminded nursing homes of requirements to ensure residents can exercise their right to vote.

The new law takes effect on Dec. 26, 2024. At that time, nursing homes will be required to publicly post the individual star ratings for health inspections, staffing, and quality measures in the same manner the overall CMS star ratings are currently posted.
