Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccinations Must Be Reported Within 24 Hours

Members are reminded that an Executive Order (EO) issued on Dec. 13th requires all providers vaccinating any child or adult with the influenza or COVID-19 vaccine to report such vaccination in the statewide and New York City immunization reporting systems, the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS) and Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR), within 24 hours of administrationThis reporting requirement applies to providers administering the vaccine to any and all staff, residents, and patients. Any staff who receive the vaccine from another provider (primary care physician or other provider) would have his or her vaccine reported by that vaccinator.

This requirement was first introduced on Dec. 13th under EO 202.82, which included a reporting time frame of 24 hoursOn Jan. 4th, EO 202.88 changed the time frame to 12 hours, and on Jan. 7thEO 202.89 changed it back to 24 hours. Members should establish their NYSIIS or CIR accounts if they have not already done so.
