DOH Issues DAL to ACFs Regarding New Requirement to Collect Information on Veteran Status

On March 8th, the Department of Health (DOH) issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) announcing that recently signed amendments to Public Health Law Section 2805-o and Social Services Law Title 2 of Article 7 require adult care facilities (ACFs) to inquire about the veteran status of current and newly admitted residents and their spouses, and, if such resident or their spouse identifies as a veteran, to transmit veteran status information to the New York State Division of Veterans’ Services. DOH will be amending regulations to comply with this new requirement. The DAL outlines the new information that must be collected and the steps that must be taken to convey this information to appropriate parties. Click here for more information.
