Personnel Vaccination Reporting and National Influenza Vaccination Week

The Department of Health (DOH) has designated that the Healthcare Personnel Influenza Vaccination Report period will open on Nov. 2, 2015 and continue through May 1, 2016. All providers covered under New York Codes, Rules and Regulations, Title 10, Section 2.59 are required to document the number and percentage of personnel vaccinated against influenza for the current season and to complete this report upon request of DOH.  This year, DOH is requiring that healthcare facilities and agencies submit a single, longitudinal report that will remain open during the reporting period.  DOH has issued a detail Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) with complete instructions and Frequently Asked Questions on vaccination reporting.

LeadingAge New York reminds nursing home members that the timely and accurate reporting of immunization data is a factor in the quality pool calculation, and the failure to properly submit would impact your quality pool dollars.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued an announcement regarding National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), which runs from Dec. 6th through the 12th.  The CDC established NIVW in order to highlight the importance of vaccination and to foster greater use of the vaccine.   Flu activity generally peaks in February each year and may last as late as May, and the CDC states that vaccinations should continue as needed throughout this period.
