Nursing Home MDS Review Certification Due Dec. 21st

Nursing home providers should ensure that they have submitted a signed, notarized attestation indicating that they have reviewed the Minimum Data Set (MDS) information that will be used to adjust their January 2024 Medicaid rate for acuity. Submitting the certification by the Dec. 21st deadline to NFMDS@health.ny.gov is the final step of the process; the deadline for reviewing the information was Dec. 14th. The State is set to freeze the January 2024 Medicaid rate case mix until a replacement, Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM)-like acuity adjustment methodology is implemented, making it especially important for providers to complete the MDS review process. The associated Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) is available here, a copy of the Certification form is here, and more information is available here. Members who encounter any difficulties are asked to contact us or reach out to the Department at NFMDS@health.ny.gov.
