LeadingAge NY Meets with DOH on Ebola

On Weds., Oct. 29, representatives of the Department of Health's (DOH's) Division of Epidemiology and Division of Residential Services discussed Ebola with LeadingAge NY and other associations.  Much of DOH's guidance to date focuses on hospitals, diagnostic and treatment centers and EMS personnel.  Many nursing homes have raised questions concerning expectations for long term care providers.  These questions relate to screening and interviewing staff and visitors, as well as prospective residents.  Currently, DOH is in the process of preparing guidance related specifically for nursing homes and is developing recommended signage for facilities.  This information is expected to be available shortly.  DOH has also asked all providers to review and update their contact information in the Health Commerce System to ensure that any critical information will be promptly received.
