ICD-10 Effective Date Now Two Weeks Away!

LeadingAge New York reminds members that, as of this writing, Oct. 1, 2015 remains the effective date for the implementation of the International Classification of Diseases version 10 (ICD-10).  We have been here before, with Congress acting to postpone the conversion at the last minute.  Currently, there are some initiatives in Congress that would seek to mitigate the impact of the conversion, ranging from ensuring that claims continue to be paid even if billed using ICD-9 to completely eliminating the transition.  However, after the 12-month delay implemented last year, it appears that ICD-10 will be a reality come next month.

LeadingAge NY has been providing members with the latest information on ICD-10 along with directed guidance, resources and educational programming.  Additional resources that members should be monitoring as the deadline approaches are the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ICD-10 website (you can check out their countdown clock) and the State’s eMedNY website.

It is critical that members keep us informed of any problems encountered with the transition, especially as it may impact claims processing.  We want to be able to intercede on behalf of our members as quickly as possible should any issues arise.
