Nursing homes are required to be in compliance with Federal requirements set forth in the Medicare Conditions of Participation in order to receive Medicare and Medicaid payment. Survey protocols and Interpretive Guidelines have been established to provide Guidance to Surveyors for Long Term Care Facilities when conducting certification and re-certification surveys. Nursing home staff who are proficient in these guidelines are better prepared in delivering quality care to the residents they serve.
