Changes to Incident Reporting for TBI and NHTD Waivers

On Fri., April 24 and again on Mon., April 27, the Department of Health (DOH), through eMedNY, posted clarification and minor changes to the incident reporting process for Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waivers. In both of the waiver program manuals, Section X, it outlines the Incident Reporting process, specifying that critical events and incidents are reported for review and follow-up action by the Regional Resource Development Center (RRDC) and DOH.

In the eMedNY article it stated, “effective April 1, 2015, in order for the RRDC and DOH to provide sufficient oversight and review of the incident reporting processes, NHTD providers are now requested to submit quarterly reports to the RRDC. These reports contain information regarding investigations conducted by the provider during the quarter, identifies trends and indicates remedial activity taken to secure the health and welfare of the impact participants." A copy of the report form is available here.

Please note that this reporting process is currently in place for TBI waiver providers and is only new for NHTD.

Also included was the reporting timeframe:

Q1 2015 (Jan. 1, 2015-March 31, 2015) Due as soon as possible

Q2 2015 (April 1, 2015-June 30, 2015) Due July 15, 2015

Q3 2015 (July 1, 2015-Sept. 30, 2015) Due Oct. 15, 2015

Q4 2015 (Oct. 1, 2015-Dec. 31, 2015) Due Jan. 15, 2016
