ACCESS TO HOME Program Funding Available

A recent funding announcement was made by the Housing Trust Fund Corporation’s Office of Community Renewal (OCR) on the Access to Home Program.  This program provides grants to eligible applicants to make permanent accessibility modifications to existing owner-occupied or rental dwelling units occupied by low-income persons with disabilities. Some of the eligible activities are installation of ramps, or lifts, modifications to a kitchens and bathrooms to provide access, or other interior accessibility modifications. This funding could provide an opportunity for community based providers as well as housing members.

The Access to Home application, as well as instructions, frequently asked questions and other pertinent information, are available on the NYS Homes and Community Renewal website here: www.nyshcr.org/Funding/Applications must be submitted through the Community Development On-Line System (CDOL) no later than 4:00 p.m., Wed, Sept. 28, 2016.

Not-for-profit organizations must be prequalified in order to do business with New York State by submitting an online Prequalification Application through the Grants Gateway. The required forms and document uploads are all part of the Grants Gateway Document Vault. Resources to complete the application and associated document vault can be found in the Quick Links Section of the Grants Gateway page at http://grantsreform.ny.gov/. The prequalification process takes some time, so members are encouraged to start the process early. Applicants that are not prequalified by the application deadline of Sept. 28, 2016 will not be eligible to receive Access to Home funds, and any applications submitted to the OCR will be deemed ineligible for review and consideration.
