OASIS - C1 Webinar and Other Home Health Agency Updates

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Survey and Certification Group is sponsoring a webinar on “OASIS-C1” on April 30, 2014, starting at 2 p.m. EST. The topics for the 1 ½ hour webinar include:

The new OASIS-C1 data set and its implementation, scheduled for Oct. 1, 2014;
Types of changes made to the data set;
OASIS-C1 Guidance Manual changes; and
OASIS Q&As update.

Questions related to OASIS-C1 and its guidance should be submitted prior to and following the webinar to the OASIS mailbox at: cmsoasisquestions@oasisanswers.com.

CMS has only reserved 1,000 lines for this webinar. If you want to participate, you are encouraged to call-in at least 30 minutes in advance.

Other Updates

CMS has posted other guidance to State Survey Agency Directors on the implementation of new alternative sanctions for home health agencies. Revisions include:

Appendix B - Guidance to Surveyors - revisions in published survey guidance.
State Operations Manual (SOM), Chapter 9 - HHA Survey and Enforcement Regulations - alternative sanctions which include Civil Monetary Penalties (CMPs), directed in-service training, directed plan of correction, suspension of payment, and temporary management. The regulations pertaining to directed in-service training, temporary management, and directed plans of correction became effective July 1, 2013. CMPs and suspension of payment will become effective July 2, 2014.
SOM, Chapter 2 - Certifications Sections 2180-2202.19 - survey protocols, enforcement, changes to OASIS data transmission.
