DOH Issues DAL on OASIS C2

The Department of Health (DOH) has posted to the Health Commerce System (HCS) a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) on Implementing the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) C2 for CHHAs and LTHHCPs. The OASIS C2 dataset will replace the current OASIS C1-ICD 10 beginning January 2017.

The DAL reviews the changes made in order to comply with requirements for standardized, cross-setting measures for post-acute care under the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act of 2014. Several post-acute care providers, including home health agencies, are required to report standardized patient assessment data to enable data comparison across all providers.

The DAL covers numerous changes, including:

Three new standardized items;
Modification to and renumbering of select medication and integumentary items;
Lookback period and item number changes in five items; and
Formatting changes.
