LeadingAge NY and Other Stakeholders Urge DOH to Reconsider ACF Financial Report Audit Requirement

In partnership with other stakeholders, LeadingAge NY once again requested that the Department of Health (DOH) reconsider its decision to require audited, rather than reviewed, annual financial statements for adult care facilities (ACFs). The transition from reviewed to audited financial statements imposes an undue and excessive financial burden on ACFs, approximately two-thirds of whom receive no government funding. Moreover, the Department does not use the data to set rates.

In the letter, we urge the Department to work with us and our business partners to develop an opinion or statement consistent with controlling statute and regulation that balances accountability with financial constraints, and that all parties are comfortable with, without requiring an audit. We will keep members apprised of any developments with this issue.
