DOH Makes Changes to ACF IRP Process

The Inspection Review Process (IRP) for adult care facilities (ACFs) has just been updated, according to a Dear Administrator letter (DAL) issued this week.  Among the changes to the process are the following:

  • Operators will be given one IRP opportunity, either at the local level or the Centralized Office in Albany.
  • IRP meetings can happen in person or via conference call, and can last up to one hour.
  • The operator will get a letter with the outcome of the IRP meeting within 15 days of the meeting.
  • An IRP is permitted for violations classified as endangerment, under certain conditions.
  • An IRP Request form must be submitted within ten days of the recipient of the Statement of Deficiencies (SODs).

Click here to view the DAL, and here for the Adult Care Facility Inspection Review Process Form. Members are encouraged to review the materials for more information. These changes are effective immediately.
